Mark Ferguson

Dewey H. Johnson Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management

My research focuses on revenue management, pricing analytics, closed-loop supply chains, and the sharing economy. I teach undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. My 2012 paper on the environmental impact of product leasing won the best operations management paper award for papers published between 2012 and 2014 in the journal Management Science. Two of my papers have won best paper awards from the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), and three of my research projects have been funded by the National Science Foundation. I am the co-author of the books Segmentation, Revenue Management and Pricing Analytics and Pricing Segmentation and Analytics and co-editor of the book Closed Loop Supply Chains: New Developments to Improve the Sustainability of Business Practices. I’ve served as the president of the INFORMS Manufacturing and Services Operations Management Society, the president of the POMS College of Supply Chain Management and the INFORMS Revenue Management and Pricing Section. Prior to joining the University of South Carolina in 2011, I served as the Steven Denning Professor of Technology and Management at the College of Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology and spent five years as a manufacturing engineer and inventory manager with IBM.
